Awards Nichrome has recently won the IPMMI Machinery Design / Development / Innovation Recognition award for the year 2009 for the PENTA SEAL POUCH launched for first time in India in VERTICAL FORM FILL SEAL MACHINE. Penta Seal pouch is a gusseted stand-up pouch with seal at each of the four vertical edges or corners. Apart from that there is another vertical seal along the centre line in the back face/panel of the pouch (this seal is similar to the vertical seal of CSPP). Since there are five vertical seals (4 corners and one central) it is called as Penta seal or Five Line Seal pouch. This pouch is ideal for food segments like Rice and other grains, Tea, milk powder and other powders, etc. Nichrome won the Pacmachine 2008 award conferred by the Indian Institute of Packaging for innovation in Packaging Machinery for its latest technology “FLEXIBLOCK”. Flexiblock is the equipment that produces brick shaped flexi pouches that are convenient to use and have a great shelf presence. The Flexiblock is ideal for packing Grains, Rice, Sugar, Powders and other solids. For the first time, there is an industry standard that is internationally formulated & will be internationally recognized. Nichrome and Thorat Dairy, Sangamner, together donated 5000 liters of Aseptically packed pouched milk to Bihar Flood Relief through Sakal Relief Fund. This milk will be distributed to the needy through the volunteers of Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana working in the flood hit areas of Bihar. This aseptically packed pouch milk can be effectively distributed to disaster struck areas due to its longer shelf life without refrigeration. Nichrome celebrates 60th Anniversary this year. Established in 1948, Nichrome started its journey with production of wires required for the heating elements made from Nichrome alloy. Later Nichrome widened its horizons by taking on structural contracts for various sugar factories and power stations. In the year 1977, Nichrome successfully designed and manufactured India’s 1st pouch packing machine for milk and later. Since then Nichrome has been the leader in packaging industry in India.
